REDNEX

We’ve just received fresh news: REDNEX will perform their brand-new song “Poor Boy Pour” for the very first time at FRIENDS FEST in Pardubice, on August 9th – one day after its official release!

About REDNEX:
Their debut single “Cotton Eye Joe” shocked the world and skyrocketed to the top of the charts in 1994. It reached No. 1 on the Eurochart Hot 100 in 12 countries. In Germany, the single became the best-selling single of the past decade, earning triple platinum status. In the UK, it held the No. 1 spot for 4 weeks, and in the US it was certified gold.

The album went on to sell European platinum, and with follow-up singles, total sales exceeded 10 million copies. In Germany, the group received the prestigious Golden Lion Award after topping the charts for a total of 16 weeks in a single year. Since its release in 1994, Rednex has spent more time at No. 1 on the German singles chart than any other artist since 1980 – a total of 25 weeks (with Modern Talking in second place at 19 weeks).
The band also received the RSH Award for “Cotton Eye Joe”, which was the most played song on German radio during the 1990s. The single was even sold on a golden plate in Australia.

Rednex has released 10 singles, 8 of which went gold (meaning over 250,000 copies sold per single). They have released 3 albums, 2 of which achieved gold status (again, over 250,000 copies each).

In 1998, Rednex’s debut hit “Cotton Eye Joe” was featured in the Hollywood blockbuster “The Negotiator” starring Samuel L. Jackson. Later, two more Rednex songs appeared in the animated feature “Barnyard” (budgeted at $16 million), which premiered in the US in October 2006. The film was directed by Steve Oedekerk, the man behind Ace Ventura. In 2006, Sony Playstation released a new video game featuring tracks by Rednex.
